ONE WAY WE GET OUR GUYS TOUGHER

WE ALL WANT PLAYERS WITH PERSEVERANCE AND HEART. THIS WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE: TO DEVELOP TOUGHNESS YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR GUYS DO TOUGH THINGS!

One of our 'tough guy things' is our 200 workout. We do this twice a week now but will increase to 3x a week soon.

It is quick but REQUIRES GRIT if done correctly.

Here is how it works:

1. Test them on a 200, so you get a base time.

2. The next day you hit the track, they will run 3 x 200.

3. Rep #1 - time +3 seconds (3 min rest)

4. Rep #2 - time +4 seconds (3 min rest)

5. Rep #3 - time +2 seconds.

For example, John runs a 25 sec. 200 on his test.

#1 - time to run is 28 seconds.

#2 - the time is 29 seconds

#3 - the time is 27 seconds. It is tough, but they can do it.

The magic is the last one must be their best time of the day. It happens fast. As soon as they get done w/ a rep, they walk across the field and it is about time to go again.

200's is one of our stations that we do in 9 minutes total.

How do we know quickly what their 'baseline' time is? We mark it on their '?' shirts. When they make all three times, we will put a 'check' below their time. When all athletes make their time the same day (all the 2-deep type guys), we will no longer run them.
