WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN A MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT?

I get this question periodically so I thought it would be great to discuss today.

A MISSION STATEMENT defines what your program does and why it exists.

Examples:

North Forney mission statement: 'To build quality young men to be champions for life through football'.

Walt Disney Corp. mission statement: “To be one of the world's leading producers and providers of entertainment and information.”

A VISION STATEMENT identifies the results your program is trying to achieve.

North Forney vision statement

- Execute all training sessions to our standard which is elite

- win the opener

-win the city

-playoffs

-win a gold football

-play on Thanksgiving

-win the state championship

Chick-fil-A vision statement: “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.”

if you can't define it, you can't achieve it.  To have an elite culture you must have a mission statement and a vision statement along w/ your core values.
